A few of Cape Town’s Bars


After a busy day exploring Cape Town by the time evening arrives it will definitely be time for a cocktail. There are options ranging from the uproarious Long Street to more chilled atmosphere on Kloof Street. This blog looks to direct those heading into the Cape Town night in the right direction.

Fork Restaurant

Fork brings a little of the Spanish flare to Cape Town. With a great interior featuring exposed brick, candle light and always chilled sangria Fork provides an elegant evening of dining and drinking. Traditional Spanish tapas is combined with a South African twists as the Fork’s chef mixes in locally sourced foods such as kudu and ostrich egg dishes.

Asoka Bar 

The Asoka Bar is a dimly lit, elegant bar that has a pan- Asian style and theme fusing together parts of India and South East Asia all within a South African context.  In the middle of the bar stands an ancient olive tree with wrap around lights. Buena Vista Social Cafe 

Located near Cape Town Stadium is the Buena Vista Social Cafe which again, with the Cape Town infatuation with regional and fusion bars, combines Africa with Cuba.  The bar is set in a fashionable two story building adorned with images of Che Guevara. Cocktails have a Latin theme, and the bar is even offers free salsa lessons every Sunday.

pastaCafe Caprice 

Set in Camps Bay, Cape Town’s answer to South Beach, Cafe Caprice provides an option for well dressed, sophisticated fun. A restaurant by day – offering lovely and varied pasta dishes – the cafe transforms itself into a bar in the evening that caters to good looking crowds of Capetonians and foreigners.

The Waiting Room 

In a section along Long Street, an area that is known for happening bars, The Waiting Room still stands out for its effortless cool. Filled with funky electronic music the Waiting Room combines an intimate dance floor, a packed bar area, and a comfortable lounge upstairs. The lounge is filled with comfortable cushioned sofas and provides a space where you can actually hear each other to have a good conversation. This club is always filled with Cape Town’s most attractive people.
