Enjoy the Carnival While on Your Holidays to Fuerteventura

As is true with many travel destinations around the world, you can’t get a time more ripe for partying than during Carnival. Taking place just before the season of Lent (which changes every year, but is during February), the Carnival is a major spectacle, a time to cut loose and get wild with strangers and friends alike before beginning your fast that lasts until Easter. It has become increasingly popular over the years to take off to a foreign destination to celebrate Carnival in style and there are few places as happening as holidays to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.

On top of it being a beautiful location with fantastic weather for this time of year – a welcome change over the mid-winter weather of mainland Europe – the venues are really set up for this kind of vacation. With resorts catering to travellers there to unwind and offering unique parties of various themes during the entire period of Lent, you can be sure to find something that appeals to you.

Before you head out to party all night, consider these other excellent ways to spend your time in one of the most beautiful destinations on Earth.

Surfing

With excellent cross-winds that stir the waters up just right all year ‘round, Fuerteventura is a surfer’s paradise. What this means is that regardless of your surfing ability, you have a chance to enjoy this thrilling water sport in a place seemed designed for it. If this has always been something on your ‘must-try’ list then why not give it a try this year?

Beach

As an island, Fuerteventura is surrounded by amazing places to soak up the sun and enjoy going for a dip in the beautiful waters. You can wake everyday, catch some rays while reading a book or just taking a nap – you’re on vacation, it’s up to you! You would be forgiven though if you skipped out on most other activities in favour of gazing at the water coming in – it is truly fabulous.

Wildlife

Few people are aware of this fact, but many of the Canary Islands are designated UNESCO biospheres and thus encouraged to use sustainable practices to preserve their unique properties – and Fuerteventura is no exception. While vacationing here you will see numerous bird species and plants that only exist here.

Landscape

As the oldest island of the Canary Islands dating back to a volcanic eruption, Fuerteventura has an incredible landscape that many will marvel at as soon as they arrive. The wide open spaces and mountains can be organized as excursions for tour groups to check out the unique properties of the island, lavascapes and volcanoes. Be sure to bring your camera and snap some priceless shots of this incredible island!
