Many of us don’t travel as much as we would like to. There are always so many other things that get in the way! Maybe you can’t get the time off of work or you simply are unable to afford spending the extra money right now. Sadly, there is always a reason to put it off. It should probably come as no surprise that 87% of people say they would love to take a vacation…. if only they had the time or money to do it. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find the necessary balance between real life responsibilities and taking that much-needed getaway. So, how often you should you take a vacation?
It all depends on your circumstances. However, it is generally a good idea to take a trip of some sort at least once a year. It doesn’t have to be a long trip or an overly expensive one, either. You need just something to get away from the routine of your every day life – and have a little bit of fun while you’re at it. Why? It has actually been found that taking a vacation is beneficial for your mental health and overall level of well being. That means that you have no excuse not to spoil yourself from time to time.
So, how can you fit a trip into your current schedule? Whether you’re super busy or have very little free time, it doesn’t matter. There are still options. If you have some vacation days stored up at work, it may be a good time to start saving a little extra cash from each paycheque. Set a realistic goal and spend some time considering options that work for your budget and time line. Remember, you don’t have to splurge on the most expensive trip or go to the must luxurious vacation spot. It’s all about finding a place that works for your current needs.
Having trouble getting time off work? Then you’re not alone. Studies have shown that many employees fear that they will get in trouble for taking an entire week (or two!) away from the job. Even if this is the case, that doesn’t mean that you can’t still take a vacation. Yes, even with limited time or money, you can still get away. Try going on a staycation, instead of taking that pricey trip to the Bahamas.
During a staycation, you can simply go to a nearby city (it shouldn’t be more than four or five hours away) and act like a tourist. Stay overnight for an evening or two and check out local attractions. You’d be surprised at how refreshing it can be to get away – even for a short amount of time. It may not be the same as a week spent on a sandy beach, but it can definitely help boost your morale.
How often should you go on vacation? As much as you possibly can! It’s all about making time in your life to take that break that you deserve.
