Things to do in Las Vegas besides Gamble

As the old saying goes, the house always wins… With that in mind why not try to do a few other things beyond gamble while in Vegas. This is a city that has been dubbed an adult amusement park so obviously when it comes to having fun there are options. A few of those options include.

flightDrink your face off

This is a city thriving 24/7 so you have to imagine that a lot of that energy is fueled by plenty of booze. Alcohol flows in Vegas, even if you must gamble, one reprieve from that vice is the introduction of another with booze for free. If you want to get out of the casinos all together check out great cocktail bars like Rhumbar and Downtown Cocktail bar or one of the many open air patios on the Vegas strip.

Dance and go clubbing

Well there are the Vegas super clubs like XS and Tao that make you pay high cover and line up, but there are plenty of other lower cost options. If you fancy a night of partying Vegas style check out Carnival Court right on the strip, which usually has no cover and features live bands or a DJ. There are some cool places that cater more to Vegas locals on Fremond Street. Check out Beauty Bar which has live bands and house, dub step DJs from all over the West coast.

Enjoy the Pool Scene

Summertime in Vegas means a ruckus pool scene. Vegas pool clubs are the summer day time equivalent of clubs with spots like Wet Republic, Encore Beach Club and the Hard Rock’s Sunday Rehab. If you just want to be by the pool and not party there is also Mandalay Bay’s artificial beach and wave pool.

Go Shopping

Vegas really caters to shopping with big name designers flaunting their wares in million dollar show rooms for high rollers. This isn’t the be all and end all of shopping though as vintage and antique shops also dot Vegas well. You can also find several shops that cater to Vegas’ colourful past such as Gambler’s General Store and Retro Vegas which collect vintage Vegas things.

Skip Town for a Little Bit

Perhaps after a little while the brash attractions of Vegas will grow too much for you and you will just want to rent a car and explore some of the nearby Nevada country side. Red Rock Canyon is mountain biker and rock climber out in the Mojave Desert. The Valley of Fire is also interesting to see for its unusual rock formations.  For a cooler summertime escape check out Mount Charleston in the Spring Mountains. This location also has skiing in the winter. Vegas is also only a day trip from Zion and Bryce Canyons in Utah and Arizona’s Grand Canyon.
